Frequently asked questions

Why isn’t my loved one’s data live / up to the second?

Pulse is an ambient app, not a live monitor. Apple Watch and iOS deliver wellbeing data to apps periodically in the background — typically every 15–30 minutes, and some values (like resting heart rate) update about once a day. Every value in Pulse shows an “as of” time so you always know how fresh it is.

It says “No recent data.” Is something wrong?

Usually not. This simply means we haven’t received a fresh reading recently — most often because the watch is charging or off the wrist, the phone has been locked for a while, or the app was closed. It is a neutral status, not an alarm. Data resumes automatically once the watch is back on and the app is opened.

The person I want to see is blank.

Pulse only shows someone after they install Pulse, accept your invite, and choose which metrics to share. Until they do, their tile stays empty. Send them an invite from the app, and make sure they’re wearing an Apple Watch (heart rate, sleep stages, and activity rings require one).

How do I stop sharing, or share less?

Open Settings → Sharing in the app. You can turn any individual metric off, pause all sharing, or disconnect from a person entirely. Changes take effect immediately.

Do both people need an Apple Watch?

The person being viewed needs an Apple Watch for heart rate, sleep, and full activity rings. The person viewing only needs an iPhone.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, pairings, consent settings, and stored vitals, and revokes your Sign in with Apple token.

Is Pulse a medical or safety product?

No. Pulse offers gentle reassurance, not medical monitoring. It cannot detect medical events or emergencies, and you should never rely on it for safety. If you’re concerned about someone’s health, contact them directly or seek medical help.
